Cornell University Fellowships for International Applicants in USA, 2017-2019

INTRODUCTION

The Society for the Humanities is offering Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowships at Cornell University for 2017-2019 academic year. Mellon Fellowships are open to citizens of the USA, Canada and international applicants. While in residence at Cornell, Mellon Fellows hold department affiliations and joint appointments with the Society for the Humanities, have limited teaching duties, and the opportunity for scholarly work. Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowships are available in two areas of specialization. Each fellowship offers a stipend of $50,000/year each awarded for the two-year period beginning July 2017. Cornells Society for the Humanities was established in 1966 as one of the first humanities institutes in North America. The Society for the Humanities at Cornell University seeks interdisciplinary research projects that reflect on philosophical, aesthetic, political, ecological, religious, psychoanalytical, and cultural understandings of skin.

COURSE AND ELIGIBILITY

Fellowships are available for pursuing Postdoctoral program. The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for these fellowships: Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship in Asian Studies Applicants for the Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship for the 2017/18-2018/19 academic years must have received the Ph.D. degree after September 2011. Mellon Fellowships are no longer restricted to citizens of the US and Canada; international applicants are welcome to apply. Applicants who will have received the Ph.D. degree by June 30, 2017, are eligible to apply. Applicants who do not have the Ph.D. in hand at the time of application must include a letter from the committee chair or department stating that the Ph.D. degree will be conferred before the term of the fellowship begins. Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship in History Applicants eligible for the Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship for the 2017/18-2018/19 academic years include those who have received the Ph.D. degree after September 1, 2011, and no later than June 30, 2017. Applicants who do not have the Ph.D. in hand at the time of application must include a letter from the committee chair or department stating that the Ph.D. degree will be conferred before the term of the fellowship begins. Mellon Fellowships are no longer restricted to citizens of the US and Canada; international applicants are welcome to apply, contingent upon visa eligibility.
